EqLaunch.exe failure, Missing MSVCP71.dll
 

I have re-installed like 4 items and i dont understand why im missing this file, iv done everything asked by the wiki server guide and the other "guide for clueless newbs" i don understand where im going wrong. I do however know that when i install the eqemu pack the ms-dos thing lasts for 3seconds then says error and before i can make out anything it shuts off. so when i hit run eqemu it says waiting for world to finish to start zone, and it waits for like a min or 2 then an error "eqlaunch.exe - Unable to Locate Component" pops up stating "This application has failed to start because MSVCP71.dll was not found. Re-installing the application may fix this problem." iv asked other server owners and they havent heard of this, iv checked around the site and havent found it, and i cant download the file anywhere . what do i do?? im soooo confused. please help :? :(

MSVCP71.dll is a C runtime that should be installed with Windows... You can download it from may places, just do a Google search.

I would say in your path somewhere C:\Windows or C:\Windows\System32

It still isnt working and i put it in windows32 windows and in the emu file i dont know what to do =(

Format your windows and Re-install it ?

Try putting the file in your Server directory.

This will probably end up being your best bet, if placing it in the /windows/system32 folder did not work. As like people are saying its part of the windows install.

thx all but nm i got it, me and my friend did a netmeeting and it was some bootlog error that it wasnt accepting so he fixd it and everything works great now

What did you guys do Artic? I am having the exact same problem.

ok well i had to download the file from some dll-files.com or something like that its on google just type in the file name and download. anywayz i downloaded the file then theres a way to install it into ur windows directory i forget how tho. its like u click Start > Run > (then something). go on google and search for the way to install .dll files it should tell you how to do it. if it hits me later il post it but im not sure it will lol. :D

The only way for install it is dropping it in your c:\windows\system32\

I got this error also, and I just installed a fresh copy of XP onto my new hardrive. Actually there was 2 files that were missing for me...

MSVCP71.dll and MSVCR71.dll

placed into windows\system32

I Installed a brand new copy of Windows Server 2003 last night and got this as well. Just google the file and stick it in your system32 folder. I believe there were actually 2 I had to put in there. But all works fine now.
