New Function - Reloading the ItemDB

It would be cool if the item database could be reloaded without restarting the server.

It would probably be more accurate to say "wont be done", because anything "can" be done, with effort.

Sure! I should have a prototype built up sometime around Feb... 2009.

;)

Thanks for volunteering John :)

I asked this of FNW earlier this year as a nice way of integrating itemdb changes with eqemu and my editor.
He in a nutshell said due to the memory sharing issue, no loading can be done realtime - at least he did say it was possible,
but not on the priority list. But heck John, you sure can try...

Uh, no. I barely know how to spell "C" let alone program in it. I think

Matt is stalking me.
:o

Not to beat the cow to death, but some one should look at eAthena's source. While a completly different design, it allows the reloading of npcs, items, and scripts with text strings that are spoken in game. If I could program C I'd check into it (I'll look at it later on when I figure C out, for now I'm making my own program.)

This feature would enable npc editing to be really dynamic, but alas I fear it will never be.
