Seconds from disaster
 

That's where i was a few mornings ago when I sat down to my desk and check my email; My server totaled it self while I watched.
It incredibly ruined every little piece of hardware on that box, including the keyboard! The two hard disks won't even power up (that ended my 7 year roll of nonstop availablity).
Anyway, if anyone is wondering what happened to me, I'm working on getting up and running again, I still have my databsase and work (it's spread out into more boxes). Just will be a few days before I get my new server going.
And if anyone has any theorys on what could have happened, I would like to know them.

Last week I decided to unplug my USB drive and head on over to my office to make a backup of it. Plugged it in and it failed. WinXP showed errors all over the drive. I lost the entire weekend's work that day.

Finally attributed it to a bad/loose USB cable, but who would have guessed...

These things happen, but mostly at the worst times.
