Yes There are free servers.. now GOOD free servers, you have come to the right place. EqEmu (in my oppinion only) is the best of all, and most functional.

Furthermore, I don't know why posting off-topic replies in this thread helps anything. The user most likely has given up his search due to the fact that he couldn't get a straight answer (especially from the board admin... tsk tsk)

If not, the fact still remains that the first reply to this user's question , by Shawn, was rude and sarcastic (do you dislike eqemu users to the point of needing to cop that type of attitude with naive users?)

I had much respect for the developers and it's testors... but if a senior member mistreats another user, I'll lose sight and spectacle of this miraculous emu effort and quit using it. I realize this means dick to you all, but had I been a member of the staff, I would have answered the user's question then had saved the sarcasm for irc, icq, whatever.

The eqemu project is no doubt, at the least, maddening. Constant users bitching about patches, incompatibility, constantly having to repeat yourselves... regardless of the 10 hours you spent writing a readme to avoid such things... but throwing attitude at any user of your project is, at the very least, extremely inappropriate. Can't stand the heat? Then give your seat up to someone who actually does this for the joy of it.

I respect all of the EqEmu devlopers, and furthermore.. all the people that decided to add their hours of effort to this project (eg windcatcher, shawn319, Drawde, stormgod, ariak, baronsprite.. etc etc etc) but Shawn using attitude toward the user that asked if there were any free servers for eq (obviously a less-than-well-thoughtout question) was rude, and completely gained NEGATIVE respect from me (as a serious eqemu follower, user, and worldbuilder - yes.. I don't just download eqemu and bitch when patches break the emu). Grow up. If you wish to be a board moderator, then act like you're a bit older than 15, please?

I want to respect what you have to say... shawn... not automatically expect you to say something sinnical, sarcastic or just plain rude. (please excuse spellings... my deutsch is better than english).

the only reason , and its a good one for saying this is that for asking such a question he didnt read anything at all from the main site or something like that,
but the effort to register to the forums was a first step , anyway sometime after writing something like 50 replies I am sure that shawn want to bitch at someone and this was a very little reply not mean at all just sarcastic and the poster will eventually learn to look on a website to where the information is.

the point is that many peeps are asking for questions like where do I download this when there is a download link right on the page they are looking...

reading the faq would have answered his question and the faq and readme are the two first thing you are supposed to read , no matter if 69% of computer users dont read the funny manual they are supposed to

I realize I was a bit critical on the subject. Truth is that I fully understand where Shawn was coming from... but sometimes people don't investigate for themselves before they request info.. hehe.. very frustrating I'm sure.

And to Bot, please excuse the 15 year old remark, after only 2 hours of sleep, eqemu giving me troubles.. hours of quest writing all fouled up (still having a hard time getting things working *exactly* the way I picture them working) and having about 600 lines of code due at work in the next 2-3 days (or it may be my job) I was just a bit testy.. hah!

Apoligies to anyone who took any offense to anything I said, I'm a slightly testy eqemu user :D
