Looking for a non-legit server...
 

I'm waffling between setting my my own server to fool around on and using an existing server.

I loved EQ, but I'm not good at games (many, many deaths), so what I'm really looking for is the ability to set my level, summon whatever items I want, then go check out all the zones I've never seen and kill a few things.

Do any of the existing servers offer this type of experience?

Hmm yes and no...
yes they exist.
But im not sure if there still around.
you will have to log into the server select and see whats still existing.

im also looking for a non legit server.

Krusher's server is semi legit, You can summon items, zone around, do some quests all from the comfort of you own computer...

Krushers is the best non-legit server running. You can do quite a few nice GM type commands.
#help for a list of available commands
#scribespell 70 (scribes EVERY spell)..may want to just do #scribespell [your level] every few levels to avoid confusion :)
#setskillall 255 (sets ALL skills to max)
#search [item name]
#si [item id]
#zone [zone shortname] ..examples include nro, sro, kurn, paludal, permafrost, chardok, bothunder, etc.

Ancient coldain items HAVE been nerfed. Just summon your characters epic 1.0 (google if you dont know name).
Some helpful buff items include
Tranquility gear
Frostreaver IV ring
Eyepatch of Plunder
The skull of den lord R-----(cant remember name--ever)
Earring of Z
Scaled alloy is nice level 1 wearable armor for melee.
Yttrium for some others. Not sure on casters.
Tharkis Platinum Stud for great stats and clicky orc form.
Cloak of the Silent Hunter for many nice buffs when you wear it.

Any more indispensible clickys?
