Vista and EQEmu

I was just wondering if there were any major problems with running EQEmu on Vista or if I should just make a new partition for XP. Thanks in advance!!

Nope. I ran eq under vista and had zero issues at least for a couple hours straight. There is always a possibility that the server could send something and the client would interpet it differently under Vista than XP and crash, but I dont think this will ever happen.

vista or something else?

i'm running Vista home basic, celeron dual core 3.33 processor, 1500 DDR ram, and a 512 geforce 7600 v-card, and everytime i try to log on during peak hours ( after 6pm est ) i make it to the server select and the emu crashes.

now anytime before then i can log on with no problems til around that time when it will just crash to desktop, if it isn't my system and i have 256 DSL stream... i can play Eve, EQ1, EQ2, CoH online trial versions without any problems, but for somereason this kicks me, if it is my connection what would the lowest connection be to get on?

or if you have any idea's for me i'd gladly try them... i have tried different drivers, uninstall and reinstall, virus / spybot scans having found nothing to find (mind you not while i was trying to log in)...

if vista works which version was used to run with little to no problems?

eager to play but with a constant issue...

the server i've been able to get on is "The Grand Creation" server i would try another but i crash at server select so much i cant pick another only to log onto last server seems to work from time to time???

Ive ran it on Home Basic, Home Premium, Business and Ultimate. The only one I have not tried is Starter (of course) so I am pretty sure that it will work fine regardless. No setting were need to be modified, it just ran like it would on XP, 2000 ect...

For 23gamer:

Your crashing problem is an EMU problem, not a vista issue. I don't know the details of it, but some seem to think its because there are too many servers on the list, and its bunging shiz up. The only way to deal with this is repeat login attempts. For me it crashes twice then it works fine.

Thanks for the reply

it's good to know it's not a system thing, and thanks for the replies :o)
