Looking for work...

To whom it may concern,

I'm looking to help someone with a server. I offer GM skills (eqemu and live), basic perl knowledge, world building knowledge and a friendly yet serious attitude. The reason I'm asking here on the forums is because the last thing I want to do is bother anyone in game. Besides, I rather detest those people who spam us GM's with "Hey can I plz be a gm!!!??!???one!!??? Id be sooo alsum!! I have phat skilz and stuff!!"

Anyhow, my background:
  • Have been following and actively involved with EQEMU for a LONG time, under various aliases.
  • Have run several of my own servers, all of which were innovative and moderately successful while they were up.*
  • Basic perl knowledge - have designed and created interesting quests, albeit they were fairly basic, but fun for the player nonetheless.
  • I have GM experience both in EQEMU and in EQLIVE. Customer service/player relations is my specialty.
  • I have quite a bit of zone/world building experience, mainly in spawning and pathing mobs.
  • I have a good attitude. I don't request to be a GM to summon all the phattest gear and /kill players - I do it because I want to help. I'm friendly and easy going and will do whatever is asked of me to better the server I'm helping with, and I'll do it without complaint.
  • I enjoy creating/designing and running GM events and quests. I love to roleplay and give the player-base a more immersive and interesting playing experience.

This is important - The server I would like to help with cannot be a fly-by-night server which is gone 3 days after it is created, or one of those servers created by someone just tinkering. It MUST be an established server with a reasonable player-base. I hope I don't sound too picky or demanding, however I want my service to mean something to someone. I'm very serious about this. So, if you are interested in my offering please PM (do not respond in this thread) me and I'll be happy to give you more information. Thanks for taking the time to consider me for your server.

*I was unable to keep my servers going because of hardware and bandwidth constraints. Once I got 20 players online my server (home server, I'm poor) was unable to handle it, and neither was my network connection. Therefore my only real option at this point is to offer my services to someone else.

Kindest regards,
Sonic

If you have a drive for correct detail and hard work, we might be able to put you to work on our classic client/database server designed to run with the old zones, models, UI, classes, everything. I tested the waters a week or two ago and had an enormous response from people who wanted to help, donate, play, and just have fun. Let me know if you are interested. C++ is definitely a plus, well any coding is but many do not have that knowledge offhand.

Send me a PM.

Thank you to everyone who replied, even if you didn't follow my instructions. ;-) I've accepted a position on a growing server and I think I'll be happy there. Good luck with your servers, and thanks again. :)

Kindest Regards,
Sonic
