I don't think it's the computer because it's a new Alienware laptop :)

If anyone have an idea or solution please :) ?

And thanks for all the job you have already done !!!!

I have 2 people with the same problem...

Im thinking it has something to do with the titanium client they were provided. Im going to see if they can get a new, fresh, install of titanium and see how that works... Anyone else have ideas?

foundout what the problem was for me.. the max frames per second was set down to 10.. reset it to 100 and it works fine :)

The other thing to be wary of on laptops is speedstep. (Or at least Intel calls it speedstep). This is a function whereby your laptop processor speed changes when on batteries and when plugged in.

It will cause weird things to happen with the titanium client (sending you to warp speed or molasses crawls). Also, usually causes you to disconnect in zones.

However, due to the opcode notes above, I would suspect that this is the version of Titanium you have. Best bet is an off-the-shelf version.

Ok..... First time I launched the game I had an "eqgame exe error " .... Thought it was because I just made a copy of the entire folder eqtitanium from my main computer.

So I decide to make a fresh installation of the client using Original cd's and the result was the same on first launch

I restarted the game and I was finally able to log on to my private server but... Characters seems to float under the grass and they don't move smoothly.

I have 4 laptops ,2 desktop all running xp sp2 and the main is a winserver2003 running the eqemu I only have troubles with my new laptop... Was thinking if it was not a video driver problem....? using native alienware drivers and running with 2 cards sli ? Anyone have already updated the video drivers ?

Oh.... And I have try to disable SLI function,Use lan cable and not the Wifi :) and laptop always running under power supply and I have noproblem to play EQ2 :)

Thanks for your comments, ideas or solution :)

Dual core processors can make your client do some funky things too. There are patches out to fix that problem.

you can do a simple work-around in windows if it is a dual core TSC (time stamp counter) issue.

start everquest, then open windows task manager. right click on the eqgame.exe process, and click select affinity. choose only 1 processor to run the client on.

Was a great idea but I have a restricted access when I try to set affinity .(

citsacras 01-03-2008 06:13 AM

What OS?

Are you using XP or Vista? Are you logged in as Administrator?

You could try disabling UAC if you are running Vista. Disable UAC by running regedit and navigating to HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\Curr entVersion\Policies\System. Change the value of DWORD EnableLUA from 1 to 0 to disable UAC. 0=disabled, 1=enabled.

If that doesn't work for you, let me know specifically what error you get when you are denied access to "Set Affinity".

I'm using windows xp sp2

and I'm administrator

error message:

the operation could not be finished

access denied

citsacras 01-03-2008 07:39 AM

ok, hopefully this will work for you:

as the local administrator, do start -> run, and type secpol.msc [enter]

this will launch windows local security policies management console. select "Local Policies" then "User Rights Assesment" then "Debug Programs". You may need to add your local administrative account to the Debug Programs policy.

if that doesn't work for you let me know.

marco820 01-03-2008 07:56 AM

:( still the same access denied

thanks ! :)

But working well if I do the same with eq2 process :)
