Client Crashes Instantly - Help!
Preface: Yes, I did a search. And I found no answers.
I am looking to start playing on a PEQ server, not create any type of server on my own. Let me make it clear that after a fresh Titanium install, I do NOT patch. But any attempt to start the eqgame.exe gives me the error: "You currently have a NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GT (6.14.11.6921) video card installed. We recommend that you download version 8185 drivers before playing EverQuest. You can pick these up at http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp." I understand that this is a legacy message and one should be able to click continue and play the game normally. But I cannot; the game opens and crashes instantly for me. Is anyone with a 7950 series card (or even a 7900) have success with booting the Titanium client? Perhaps I need to use a legacy driver? Please help a brother out! |
There have been some posts on this in the past relating to video resolution settings. (Search for 'resolution' to find them).
Suggestions include changing your desktop resolution settings, or, in eqclient.ini, set the video mode and/or enable Windowed mode, e.g. VideoMode=2 WindowedMode=TRUE The values for VideoMode are: 0 is 640/480 resolution, 1 is 800/600. 2 is 1024/768. 3 is 1280/1024. 4 is 1600/1200. Players need to have the Velious expansion in order to set this line to 3 or 4. |
Great! That fixed it. Thank you very much Derision.
If you require any sexual favors in the future, just holler. |
yeah
I had the exact same problem, this fixed it for me too. Hurray for windowed mode!

I cannot fix the skipping still...
I have 8800gtx video card. Running on xp. I set the videomode to 3, and windowedmode is set to true. when i get to the character select screen and even in-game it skips. I had the exact same warning:
"You currently have a NVIDIA GeForce 7950 GT (6.14.11.6921) video card installed. We recommend that you download version 8185 drivers before playing EverQuest. You can pick these up at http://www.nvidia.com/content/drivers/drivers.asp." Anyone know anything else that could help me out? I really miss EQ1 and i wanna play it again !!! =D |
