Spell Unscribing Quest
Hi, I've been trying to find a way to #unscribespell() (recent addition to commands), but doing it using a quest script... Reason being is I currently use quest::scribespells function on an NPC Spell Scriber, but doing this also gives the PC's their discs in spell form, so they can use the disc, plus scribe a spell and use both one after the other (only viable for hybrid classes that have both discs and a spell bar). So I was looking to see if I can scribespells with a quest, but then straight away unscribe the disc's from their spellbooks.
Either that or is there a simpler way to do this? to stop Hybrids using discs and spells (I dont want to not give access to the spell scriber as its a very likeable commodity for a custom server). |
The best way I can think of to do this is to use the spell editor from the Tools section of these forums and just remove all classes from those spells, or set the level higher than the max player level on your server. The tool is really easy to use. Just make sure you backup your spell file before you use it. Also, you only need to edit the spell_us.txt. Also, you need to put the tool in your eqemu directory. I didn't see that instruction anywhere in the thread.
Then anytime they try to cast the spell (if it was already memmed), it will lock them up until they zone. After that, if they speak to the spell scriber again, all of those spells will get removed and not added back in when the other spells are. And anyone new to the server will never even see the spells. I am sure there are other alternatives, but this shouldn't be too bad. Hybrids don't have a very big list of discs like you see with pure melee, and alot of them are multiple classes, so you can knock them all out with 1 edit (fearless, resist disc, etc). |
