Getting disconnected

I am having problems with playing on other people's servers. I can play for about 5 mins or so and then lose connection. I have experimented with multiple servers and get the same thing. I have tried running TCPOptimizer, but it hasn't helped. Any suggestions?

Which servers have you tried? Are you staying in one zone or running around doing a lot of zoning? Are you on broadband internet? Are you running any high-bandwidth programs in the background such as lime-wire, emule, bit-torrent, ect or are you downloading/uploading any files?

I have tried all of the preferred servers and a few of the others. I am staying in the same zone and I am on broadband with comcast. While I do use azureus, I shut the program down before I log on. I have gone through my background programs and I am pretty sure none of them are using bandwith.

"preferred" servers are just a few people that are in control of that and use this heading for "eye candy". If you go further down the list, you will find other servers that work just as good or even better.

Here one of my old posts that will help you out on tweaking your connection, and other assistance

Also, if other people in your house have PCs that share the internet with yours, make sure their PC isn't running any kind of P2P or Torrent or whatever program to download/upload and use all of your bandwidth.

im also having this problem. Server doesnt matter it constantly happens. Sometimes i play for hours with now problem, othertimes i cant play more then 5 minuts before i leg/desync/disconnect whatever.

Ive tried the fixes found here on the forums. No maleware. No P2P software running in the house, mines the only pc on.

I would love to know some workarounds to help improve my chances of making it threw an entire dungeon clear without crashing every other room lol. Can i play with the crashes yes. Would i love it to have it not happen, yes.

Anyway im open to new ideas. Oh ive got cable internet. Never had a bandwith issue befor so i am not sure thats it. No firewall. No antivirus running while im playing, and ive put myself in the DMZ in the router while playing. Any suggestions anyone?

maybe when you start having the problem often, try running a speedtest. There are a few out there that you can find easily with google. I think one is called speedtest.net or something like that and there is one in the tools at dslreports.com as well. With cable internet, your entire neighborhood normally shares a certain total amount of bandwidth. So, sometimes during peak hours, the transfer speeds might be limited. Worth a shot anyway.

Mine seems to be pretty consistent and I have cable as well. But it may depend on your area and if your provider has oversubscribed your area or not.

Nope. ran the speed test and my connection is still fast. clocked at 7300kbps from speakeasy.net/speedtest
