Vista & Emu not working
Clean install of Titanium on a Vista 32 Ultimate, setup the eqhost file, make a shortcut of eqgame.exe and have it patchme. click the shortcut, it loads up but closes immediately before showing the EULA screen. Ive tried the fixes ive seen so far and none help. Is there any other way to play it?

Ive seen some people talking about running Emulator with WinEQ2, i tried it but i cant seem to get it setup to run the eqgame.exe patchme at all, it keeps trying to load everquest.exe and patch to live, any help with that as it may fix the problem?

Read that post and I would recommend trying the Running in Compatibility mode fix first. |
I run EQ And the emu on a Vista ultimate box straight out of box and it works fine I turned off UAC And Windows Defender I doubt that has much to do with it. sipherwoods you need to change the shortcut properties target field to point to eqgame.exe patchme.
If all else fails set the compatability mode to windows xp sp2 in the properties window after rightclicking on eqgame.exe |
We tried Compadability mode along with the patchme, It still wont even load up the EULA, just flashes and then goes back to desktop.

REally dont know what to tell you other then that it works fine on vista for me, actually it runs better then it does on xp... Have you turned UAC off or set it to run as administrator?
It works fine I swear it lol |
Even SWG works on vista for me There has to be some kind of video card or direct x issue causing your problem.

Can you post the contents of debug.txt after running the program? It shouldn't be that large. |
What video card do you have?

Another chime in with Vista working. I run Vistax64 and about all I had to do was set XP compat on the shortcut and close down the sidebar while I'm playing EQ.
However I also have UAC turned off (worst idea ever by a software co.) and defender and all that other CPU cycle hogging crap. Gotta be a vid card driver issue. |
if nothing else grab yourself the latest video drivers for your card and reinstall them and then try eq

Sounds like you are probably having the resolution issue. Try editing your eqclient.ini to use another resolution, or run the eqconfig program for changing your settings outside of the game. Once you change your resolution, it should let you get in just fine. Let us know if you need anymore help than that to get your resolution set. I am pretty sure this is your issue.
Of course, you can also try looking at your EQ logs and see if they give any useful info. And also check to make sure that you have at least 500MBs of RAM (preferrably 800+MBs) that is free. Spybots and Adwares can max out your memory and if you don't have enough, EQ will do exactly what you are describing. |
I get the same problem and here is what the log file says:

I Changed the resolution in eq to a non widescreen format (via editing eqclient.ini) and viola it works!!!!
|
I spoke too soon, I click on a server to log in and when EQ starts loading it throws memory cannot be read error. Even when it is run as administrator.
P.S.- I wish they would turn off the whole post edit lockout thing because this is getting drawn out. |
