Does anyone run the eq client on LINUX?
I've tried running the everquest client through wine but when I try to log into anyone's server it crashes with a generic error after loading. If there's anybody who has gotten eq to run on linux, I'd love to know what you did to get it working.
TO BE CLEAR: I am talking about the client running on linux, NOT the server. |
I heard getting it running on Wine is possible, but not easy. Someone told me to try using Cedega instead of wine for all games. Supposed to make it much easier to get running.
Otherwise, you might want to check out this article I just found from a quick google search: http://www.linuxjournal.com/article/8630 |
I've done it in the past with cedega but it's still not as responsive as it was in XP. But it will work.

I run the Titanium client on FC8 using an older version of Cedega (6.0.2) and it works fine. I don't seem to have any responsiveness issues with it either. I just have to disable PulseAudio before going in, otherwise I have no sound.
I tried it recently in Wine, after they released the 1.0 version, but didn't log into the game. I got to the character select screen and my toons had no bodies, just armor pieces. So I figured something was amiss with the graphics and went back to Cedega. I'll keep trying Wine after each update to see if it works or not. It will some day, I am sure. |
