Spells get no LoS
Hello,
Just recently, I got a Minilogin EQEmu server set up just for fun of some friends and I. Everything works smoothly; I'm on a hardwired LAN (all of the computers in question are plugged into a 5 port hub) and the hosting server is a small Sony laptop. Duo core, Windows XP, 2gb ram, and so on. The server starts up well; on the client computers, it works great, but there's one major problem. No matter what location I'm in, offensive spells can never get a line of sight. Throughout everything I've tried, every nuke, debuff, dot, etc.. I get an error "You cannot see your target" or whatever it says when that happens. As far as I know, I can. I can be standing right next to the NPC and still not see it. Anyone have any ideas as to what might be causing this? Is it a database value that isn't correct? (Database is PEQ by the way) Thanks! ____________________________________ -Vatras Adanos, former Bard of Solusek Ro |
Sounds like either your .map files are bad or missing(this one). The server doesn't allow los to be calculated without zone maps so anything that requires it will fail without them.

Hmm...
I did not install the new map files, only the old ones with PEQ. Since not every zone is affected by the changes, would this be the cause of the problem? (Or maybe every zone is... I'm not entirely sure.) |
Almost certainly a map problem. Download the new ones and try it out.

If you don't have a file in your eqemu/maps directory that is named after the zone you are testing, then it won't have LoS for agro, agro sharing, or detrimental spells. Angelox hosts the newest map files, which include .map files for all zones in Titanium as far as I know. The ones from PEQ might only include up to PoP and maybe some OOW ones, but I think leaves out many of the latest .map files. What those files do is tell the server the full 3D layout of the zone, and without them, the server has no idea where there are or are not walls/floors/ceilings etc.
