setting up the emu
I need some help please. I have tried different versions of emu, different os, different comps, different settings and still I am unable to figure this out. I am running win 98, have sql set up, eqw 2.22, eqemu 0.3.4, current everquest patch. I run world.exe to try to get into servers. My own server always appears locked, and when I get into a server I can sit there as long as I want without doing anything, but as soon as I do anything I get disconnected. I've also tried to get minilogin method to work, it'd be cool as hell to be able to play offline, even alone. Still I couldnt get it. Will post relevant files, and status when up and running.
current setup is for eqemu server setup, NOT minilogin. although help on either is appreciated loginserver.ini [LoginServer] loginserver=eqlogin1.eqemu.org loginserver2=eqlogin2.eqemu.org loginport=5999 loginport2=5999 worldname=fatboy locked=false account= password= worldaddress=169.254.217.216 [LoginConfig] ServerMode=Standalone ServerPort=5999 UplinkAddress= UplinkPort= UplinkAccount= UplinkPassword= Boot5zones.win9x.bat REM:--------------Start----------------------- @echo off start win9X . 169.254.184.183 7995 169.254.184.183 start win9X . 169.254.184.183 7996 169.254.184.183 start win9X . 169.254.184.183 7997 169.254.184.183 start win9X . 169.254.184.183 7998 169.254.184.183 start win9X . 169.254.184.183 7999 169.254.184.183 exit cls REM:---------------END------------------------ eqhost.txt [Registration Servers] { "eqlogin1.eqemu.org:5999" } [Login Servers] { "eqlogin1.eqemu.org:5999" "eqlogin2.eqemu.org:5999" } WHEN RUNNING MESSAGES Minilogin.exe LoginServer.ini read. Everquest sounds soooo cool. I THANK everyone who even takes the time to read this message. THANKS EVERYONE. Talon(on message boards) a.k.a. Blade/Xavier on IRC |
reread, my bad.

Ok, first off I love it when someone pays attention and posts the config files and server screems :)
Your first problems is boot5zones.win9x.bat For 3.4 there is no zone9x just the zoneNT but it seems to work about the same on either OS. So just change zone9x to zoneNT Second, while it shouldn't cause problems, the second IP on each line is usually kept 127.0.0.1 But either way should work. Your server always apeared locked because your didn't have any zones running. On the minilogin side, get the updated one from the main page files section "Minilogin-jun-1" and that should get the local only play working. The problem where you disconnect if you move... That is a new one, and I really don't know. Get yours up and running and see if it happens on your server. Try both minilogin and the internet setup. |
zone
when u said change so just change zone9X to zoneNT what are u referring to? in the bat file where it is win9X or the name of the bat itself which is win9X? that threw me off a little. and the moving=disconnect problem seems like I'm lagging out, but it cant be that laggy on all teh servers, right? im using 56k connect; connected at 54k

People using Windows 98 cannot use EQEmu 0.3.4. That simple.
0.3.4 did not come with a Zone9x.exe (required if you run windows 98or ME). If we get some more coders there might be a 0.3.5 =P |
so can I use an older version of eqemu if I uninstall everquest and reinstall it without patching? if so, which files do I need to dl? thanks for the help everyone

nope, there is no version of EQEmu that works with an un-patched EQ. 0.3.3.1 requires the files from beginning of may so i doubt you have them backed up :( sorry.
|
i dont have any backups because I just got everquest and decided to check out emu first. but if I found May evequest patch I could play on .3.3.1?
Talon |
which patch? May 8,9, or 10? or which date? found downloads of all the past EQ patches so np there; old patch will function just like backup so... which patch will match up with what eqemu version?
|
8th i think.. may i ask where you found these files? hehe
|
may 8 patch with eqemu version 0.3.3.1?; found files on the net of course, u can find anything on the net, if u know where to look
|
Alright well beware, non-current EQ files are considered Warez here so dont give them out, link to them or ask for them :)
|
Also, the last few patches patched some wierd files most people didnt backup/save. so dont be supprised if 0.3.3.1 still doesnt work. going back patches is risky and may not go back completely. best thing to do is not patch (once u get a good version of emu that works with latest patch).
|
yes, I am aware of teh current warez policy, yeah Im not planning on patching as soon as I can get a version of it to work online or offline, doesnt matter
didnt answer my last post though, eqemu version 331? thanks for the information Talon |
I thought we were talking about 0.3.3.1 the whole time lol. yes may 8th with 0.3.3.1.
i might be wrong though.. my good 0.3.3.1 folder has may 8th eqgame.exe. |
