New Server
Hey guys,
Firstly, you guys have done a great job. Duplicating a game like EQ is a mammoth task, I'm very impressed at the level of accuracy attained thus far. Hat's off to all involved. I decided I'd like to try and create my own server, and I have managed to install all the necessary components. I can log into my server and create a character, but I seem to be having problem with the zones. I can't enter my starting zone at all. I've done alot of searching but can't find much that I understand (I have no real experience with this sort of thing). I seem to be having a problem with the Traps table. Quote:
The World window shows up with... Quote:
So far, nothing crashes, I just get these messages. I'm not sure if this is relevant, but I've also noticed alot of errors on the World window whilst debugging. The majority of the rules come back as errors rather than changes. I assume this is due to missing DB entries, but again, I don't really know. I'd like to start out with a fairly realistic duplicate before I start modifying things, so any help in establishing this would be most appreciated. |
Please be sure to use the newest PEQ DB from CVS, as it has current tables, including traps. http://eqemulator.net/forums/showthread.php?t=23536

Re-downloaded the DB through CVS and still having the same problem. Followed the instructions on the linked page to no avail.
Exact same error messages coming up. Re-created a character, no problems there. Tried to log in, zone still not active and error message still showing the Traps failure. |
Wondering if a solution was found for this issue?
I am also using peqdb_1129Rev141.sql which i downloaded last nite with CVS I am having the same issue as Genesis here is a more exploded view of the error From Zone window Code:
[Debug] [RULES__CHANGE] Set rule Watermap:CheckForWaterAtWaypoints to value true Code:
[Debug] [RULES__ERROR] Unable to find rule 'World:ClearTempMerchantlist' Is the current PEQ_DB corrupted ? Is there a Fix yet ? Is there a way to DL the older peq_db so that we may use that ? Also im not sure if Genesis is having this issue and it may be the hole reason for this that when i load the zone windows they are 0:sleeping rather than "At the bottom you should see several lines that say something about launcher connected, zones, and ports 7000, 7001, 7002, ect.. Also, that blank window will also say 7005: sleeping at the top of it if you did everything properly. " like it says in the tutorial, is this the reason? if so what may i have done wrong? and how may i correct it? |
Please use the SVN builds of the server, not the outdated ones in the downloads section. http://code.google.com/p/projecteqemu/downloads/list If the DB Rev does not match the Rev of the server, then there is a chance it won't work.

I think I missed something.
I downloaded and copied the 141 revision, and when I try to run world.exe, I get an Entry Point Not Found error. Quote:
Please forgive my newbieness. |
yet again im having the same issue Genesis, So i went on my way Searching for an Old DB as i was certin that was the issue.. in my search i finaly found this
http://www.projecteq.net/downloads.php and downloaded the 0.7.0-1110a DB Then i went here http://www.eqemulator.net/download.php and downloaded the proper Emu win32 how ever 0.7.0-1110a DB is only 4 files i supose its an update possably? . how ever i took the 4 files droped them in to the folder i sent the CVS dl of the DB (c:\peqbd), then after dumping my current DB Via navcat, following the tutorial i recreated the DB. Code:
Click Start->Run-> and type in cmd to bring up your command prompt also i never had to reset my PW eather possably cause i had already made a prior peqbd ?possably i will need to later ? once i did that went to navcat double checked the peqdb and it was all there so i ran my client .. it works, but as it is, im now running on this current revision XD .. currently i have tried several times to reinstall fully from scratch useing the most current information. yet this is the only one that has allowed me to finaly log in to my own server XD p.s it did crash on me. the zone.exe was having errors and crashing how ever i found that through all my unpacking, deleting and moving. i forgot to put the SPELL files back in to the eqemu folder XD , how ever once they were in place it was all working properly well i know its not a fix but a temporary suplament to get on to a personal server :) In a few days ill try a new CVS DL and see if that one works, cause i really want Bots that or Cavedude which perl do you use and why are the core files with or with out bots that you linked there so much bigger than the ones hosted on this site ? |
*sigh* I've given this link out to so many people it isn't funny.
http://www.projecteq.net/phpBB2/viewtopic.php?t=5264 Using the newest EQEmu SVN and PEQ CVS are your best bet. They work perfectly. Size is meaningless for both DB and binaries. DB size changes depending on how it's dumped, binaries change when compiled from system to system. |
Thank you Cavedude :)
i didnt even think to search the forum there for the error since it was the second major stop i came accrost  after seeing that and correcting my compatiblity issues i am now running all the proper current files :D on a side note this tutorial which i assume is the easyest to find http://www.eqemulator.net/wiki/wikka...ka=ws992mysql5 should be updated it tells how to get the current peq_db via cvs how ever it does not state to use the proper perl version nor does it give links to the proper binaries how ever, now if i have issues i will search both forums first thanks again |
