LFC (Looking For Classic)
 

Yeah, this is the weekly "any good classic servers?" post. I used to play on a few, mainly on CKV and some other until they sort of died out and I went on to play a more modern game for a while. Now I'm "acquiring" EQTitanium again have a hunger for the classic hardships once more. I have a few criteria, though:

- Must be actual, true classic. Nothing custom, nothing changed, nothing but what we had back in the day. I realize no server is ever going to truly achieve this down to the smallest detail, but I'm asking for a server that doesn't constantly remind me that it's emulated by making me suffer missing NPCs, bugged skills, adjusted XP rates and all that stuff.

- Must have some semblance of a playerbase. Preferably a dozen or two active players, and more is obviously better. They should also be as mature and reasonable as you can expect them to be.

- Dedicated GM(s) that don't abandon the server one day when they get bored. I've had my fill of this and I like to know that my server of choice won't be gone some day without a word.

- Nothing past Velious; progression up to Velious is fine but not a requirment.

- No PvP. I'll be playing on TZ/VZ on the side when I feel like torturing myself with EQ1's questionable PvP capabilities.

I'm just about to start playing and I'm looking for the same thing. I want an old school classic eq, I was thinking about joining the pvp server but I would also like a good old pve old school server. Any suggestions? Please help me decide.

Most of the classic servers are only PvP, as the classic aspect of the game doesn't hold many PvE players since you can literally run through the whole thing very quickly with the knowledge that is spread across the Internet. You can find a classic PvE server, but it won't have a playerbase.

The PvP aspect of EverQuest was actually extremely balanced, considering many other MMORPG's attempt at PvP. I wouldn't recommend the TVZ server though.

I have been working on a PVE classic server for a couple months now and have a few people testing. It meets the criteria of your list.

I plan to keep it in beta until everything that is fixable per database and source is done. You are welcome to come check it out. Maybe catch some things that we have missed and make suggestions for a good pve classic.

Server name is appropriately.. "testing do not play yet"

Just finished building a classic cazic thule zone and I'm quite proud of it. :D

correct loot drop %s!
rare and very rare classic mobs included.

Spells are also available in the original level spans...for example, spells for robe casters were 1, 4, 8, 12, 16, 20, 24, 29, 35, 39, 44, 49. This server uses that formula. Nilbog has done a great job so far.

Yeah, Testing Dont Play Yet is the best server out there. We have worked hard and are working hard to make sure it is the best!! Nilbog is a hero! 3 Cheers for Nilbog!

If anyone is interested i'd like to start playing on this server. checked it out, looks good just not much fun with no one one. if anyone wants to join me and we could start a little group pm me.

I still think EQClassic is the best Classic server you'll see for some time.

since the server is still being tested.. be aware that characters will be wiped upon release.. it is named testing don't play yet for a reason :D

I only saw one server that was pretty live like. It is the PEQ one but it is hard to get started there, well for me anyways because I don't box so soloing was tough.

Sorry if it came off the wrong way, but I am sick and tired of morons posting on Yahoo Answers and google bombing it to the top JUST so they can defame EQC.

It is childish and I don't think it is right. That is why I am upset about it, as are the rest of us EQCers.

I also met with nilbog on IRC, and is a very nice person, and would recommend their server for EQClassic on Titanium. That's my 2cp.

no i was just copy and pasting....i would never try to be yeahlight or tongpow, i believe someone else impersonated him as well. And yeah i know yahooanswers is dumb, but thats the only thing i can find talking about it. i guess i should download an irc client so i can hear the actual answer. either way....moron or not. glad to see its not all over.
