moving EQ screen problem
 

I recently got Windows XP 64 bit and for some reason when i move the eq screen itself to another monitor the cpu goes up to 50 % and the toon gets very laggy as well as my mouse at half speed as well. I did not have this problem on 32 bit xp at all. I have the latest ATI drivers. Even if part of the EQ screen is on the other monitor it does this. Could it be something other than the graphics driver? I also upgraded to intel pentium duel core 2 8500 processor as well. Anyone have any ideas at all ? The service pack 3 fix for multiple cores isnt for windows xp 64 btw.

This could be any number of problems, but Windows XP 64 is simply a nightmare for gaming. Everquest is very picky about the system its played on and it actually runs much better on a single core processor. Have you tried using one of those affinity programs that allows you to push an application to just one core? I found that helps a lot, and EQ can run on one core with no problem. Also how are you splitting the screens? Does your video card have dual output, or are you using another video card for the secondary? like maybe an onboard video card? that would make a huge difference. Check those things and let us know. Im using WinEQ2 for the affinity part same as before when i had my 32 bit system. I have 2 video cards, both have 2 monitor inputs. AMD has the optimization download but this is INTEL so i am screwed on that part. XP 64 doesnt get to use the hotfix that comes in SP3 for 32 bit system either for some reason. Why does XP 64 suck for gaming btw? I got XP 64 because i didnt want all of vistas problems but wanted to use more memory than 3 gigs. I would buy software if i had to to fix this gaming problem if i knew what to buy that is. Any help is appreciated as this is a real bummer :(

I asked about your video cards because I wanted to know if your left screen was being fed by one video card, and the right monitor by the other... That would go a long way to figuring this out. If your moving an application from one screen to another and that windows has to be rewritten to display on another video card, that might be it. Get what I'm saying?

What do you have EQ graphics setup to use? If you have dual video cards, you'll have multiple video cards in your options when you set the options from the login screen.
