could be cuase of your ports are blocked
I am no expert at port opening but search the forums to see how to open them

Randymarsh9 01-29-2009 07:44 PM

ok type your default gateway into the address bar and find them from there. You will want to Open 7000-7010 and 9000 i believe

Jimmyxtreme 01-29-2009 07:44 PM

i doubt it, im not using a router, im connecting directly through my cable modem to the net.... please help we really want to play

Randymarsh9 01-29-2009 09:09 PM

Its probaby the ports. I had the same problem when someone would connect it wouldn't show up in my world.exe because they couldn't connect to my comp. Try opening them up and maybe turning off your firewall

Jimmyxtreme 01-30-2009 12:23 PM

It cant be the port's im not using a router, im connecting directly through a cable modem so i dont use port forwarding, also i tried turning off my firewall and a/v but we are still having the same problem, please help

I'm assuming you're using an etherent cable and not usb to connect to the modem which means guess what? Your modem is probably acting as a router!

You can prove or deny this by checking your local machines ip address. Open a command window (start -> run -> cmd) and type ipconfig and look at the IP address. If it is a private address range, you're using a router. If it is your actual public IP (you can visit whatsmyip.org and look at the IP address at the top of the window to see if it matches) address, then you need to check your machine for any active firewalls that may be running and open the ports there.
