Got Minilogin working for LAN use - what settings for public access?

Hello guys, after many hours of tweaking and frustration, I now have the local server working.

I can access the server from all computers on my LAN (yay!).

Now, I want to extend access to someone not on my LAN - some friends coming from outside IPs.

What do I have to modify and also, what do they?

I'll take a stab at outlining what is needed on both the server and client sides:

Client:
1. Install EQ Titanium - no patching!
2. Modify eqhost.ini to direct to my EXTERNAL IP address, port 5999.
3. Modify EQ Shortcut to add "patchme" switch.
4. Determine their EXTERNAL IP, using http://whatismyipaddress.com/ or similar tool and communicate that to server admin.

Server:
1. Determine my EXTERNAL IP, in similar fashion to client above, and communicate to client.
2. Add name of external account and their IP address to the account table in PEQ database.
3. Forward port 5999, 700X, etc. to server machine local IP in router.

Is it really that simple?

Bump - can anyone confirm my process above?

the best way to get external Clients onto your system is to use DDNS. go to http://www.dyndns.com and create an account and go into your router configuration and set up the DDNS with your account info for the site. theres a button you click there to sniff your IP and update the DDNS. then your external clients can modify their eqhost.txt files to say host=whatever you choose for the name:5999 (name.dyndns.com:5999) you will still need to enter their IP's into the account table and update them when they change unless you install the IP updater, then they can do it themselves. everything else looks fine except its the eqhost.txt not .ini

Thanks R!

So, with the exception of using the dynamic DNS as opposed to a static, is the process I outlined above complete? Also, is that service free?

It looks to be all there, and yes the service I mentioned is free.
