How to create wiki pages
How do I create Wiki pages/articles? Is there a guide? ;-)

If you are just wanting to figure out how to create a new page, all you need to do is figure out where you want to link the page you are creating from. First, you make the link to the page you want to create, and then you create the page. It is a bit backwards lol. To make the link, just figure out what you want to call your page. If the page is about adventure system stuff, you need to name it so the wiki recognizes it as a page name, which means you need capital letters in more than 1 place of the word. So, in this case, you could name the page AdventureSystem. Then, after you save the edit to the page where you created that link at, you will now see the link name with a red line under it, meaning that there is no page existing for that link yet. Just click the link and you will be able to make your own new page there.
For formatting stuff, I would recommend looking around the wiki and finding stuff you think looks good and then just going in edit mode so you can see how to do what you are wanting to do. I am hoping that the wiki gets moved over to MediaWiki (what wikipedia uses) at some point, because their wiki is sooo much better than wakka wiki, which is what EQEmu uses currently. |
Ok sounds pretty simple, I created the link.... Then I clicked on the link to create the page... then I stored the page. Now when I click on the link it only shows about the first 10 lines of my page. :???:
It is a Windows Server Setup Guide in the CatagoryServers section. |
What am I doing wrong? When I create the wiki page it only saves the first dozen or so lines.... Take a look here

Looks like you were getting ready to use an apostrophe at the end of where that page cut off. Some characters like apostrophe are read to mean you are wanting to change the formatting of the wiki. I think there is a way to stop it from reading the character that way if you put a / in front of it or something like that. You can go into edit mode on other wiki pages to get an idea about how to properly format the page.

I've never had any problems adding wiki pages. If you want to post the entire text you are trying to add, verbatim here, I'll see if I have the same problem trying to create the page. Put it between

tags, so VBulletin doesn't mess it up trying to interpret smileys, etc, eg.
History/About Me/About this Guide Last revision Date 4/29/2009 The EQEmu project has been going for quite some time, locations for where to get various files have changed (sometimes more than once), I will attempt to point you to the latest and greatest spots to download. Of course in that respect this guide will become outdated as well (so always make sure you are following the latest guide you can get your hands on). I will update this guide as often as I can. I have borrowed parts of this guide from other guides and parts of it are of my own creation. I intended this guide for creating a stand-alone EQEmu server to play on and with by myself. I claim no knowledge of how to create a publicly available server and to do that is beyond the scope of this guide. I was however able to use this guide, and a few little tweaks to make a LAN playable server. But realistically, that is also beyond the specific scope of this guide. This guide was written while installing an EQEmu Rev.590 server on my IBM/Lenovo laptop with a 2.53GHz Intel Core2 Duo processor and 2GB of RAM. It runs perfectly on my system. However, I claim no responsibility if you can
|
