Custom player models

Is there anyway atm to upgrade the player models of any race? Sorta like, overwrite them with a custom rigged model with all the appropriate animations?

If that could be possible now or in the future, you could totally re-write a server so it looked like an entirely different mmo with changes to the UI and all that.

I can make custom cities-zones but it would be very nice to somehow update-change the player models.

in theory.
you unpack graphic files and put back in whatever you like
BUT - this will only work for your own EQ installation, any other player would need to do the same thing with his files to see any new graphics

Also, we already have something like this going on a while - specially building custom zones. Check the OpenZone section

I'll give you some links to read which will give you more insight on custom player models.

yeah ive got posts in there still way back from 2007 but I don't think they had the ability to do it back then so i lost interest.

I was able to import custom buildings into a custom zone i made though way back.

edit-Thanks for the information =).

That old 2007 information still applies to today considering we're still using the same client. Send WindCatcher a PM and he will give you all of the information you need to start on the road of importing your own custom characters. It is possible but it takes time. :)
