cant change my target box on my shortcut. says specified in target box is not valid

You are trying to use patchme on everquest.exe instead of eqgame.exe like you are supposed to. You have this:
"C:\Program Files\Everquest\everquest.exe" patchme When it should be this: "C:\Program Files\Everquest\eqgame.exe" patchme |
open your new copy of Everquest and find the file eqgame.exe. Right click this file, and click Create Shortcut. Right click the shortcut and go to Properties, adding to the end of the file patchme. Such as: "c:\Program Files\Everquest Copy\eqgame.exe" patchme. a space between 'eqgame.exe patchme' is needed, depending on your OS, it may or may not be in quotes. If quotes, put the patchme after the ending quote, or it will give a target not found error. the trailing directory is likely going to be different on yours.

I had this problem also with eggame.exe when tryin to use patchme. another work around I found was putting
Code:
eggame.exe patchme -w |
