Character login causes blackscreen
 

Alright so whenever i log in a box, the character screens that im currently playing go black. The only way ive found to resolve this is to switch to full screen/windowed. This isnt so bad, but as some of you may know, theres about a 50% chance when flipping between full/windowed that the client will crash. Is there a way to keep this from happening? I never had this problem a couple months back when i first started playing.

Secondly, compounding the issue is ive been having a god awful time loggin in characters. I usually have to spend 5-15 minutes restarting the eq application because the server selection doesnt show up, or the client freezes while logging into server selection as well as when i log a character in.

What i end up with is an hour trying to start to play the game, and maybe 20minutes of playing by which time, someone goes ld, and pretty much restarts the domino effect.

Please any real help would be appreciated, i just wanna play

Graphics/direct x drivers have been updated

I connect to the internet directly through lan, no routers, but i live in an apartment complex, so im sure they have routers. But, i played eqemu a couple months back and never had a hiccup with it, played 4 characters at once, smooth as ice.

Which client are you using, SoF or Titanium? If you haven't already, you may want to try out wineq to see if that helps your windows function a bit better.

The issues with logging in are due to problems going on with the Login Server right now that seem to be much worse than normal. I believe Rogean is looking into solutions to correct that problem in particular.
