Problem logging into server
 

just recently installed eq secrets of faydwer and attempted to use this emulator... i followed the instructions given. i load EQ and it goes to the login screen, i use the username and password i made and press enter, and a window pops up saying "Logging in to the server. Please wait..." and it stays on that screen and never progresses. i double check eqhost.txt and im 100% sure there are no spaces and the name of the file is correct... dont know what else could be the problem...

That problem happens when you try to log into the EQEmu Public Login Server with a client later than SoF. That means you either did not install SoF directly from the retail disc, or you patched some files. Either way, you will need to uninstall EQ, and completely delete your Everquest folder and then reinstall SoF from the retail disc and not patch it this time.

If you are by chance trying to use the SoF download from Steam, that appears to actually be the same as the SoD download, just named SoF for some reason. Which means that it won't work with the Public Login Server until the LS is updated to work with SoD. Hoping that it won't be too much longer before the Public LS is updated, but there is still no ETA. For now, only PEQ has a Private Login Server that allows the SoD client to log in.

it was a steam download, it was some rediculously low price, and i remember reader about this emulator working with that version, i guess i'll have to wait. thx for the help! by any chance do you have a rough estimate when SoD might be supported?

Yeah, actually SoD is fully functional with EQEmu on any server that is updated to use it. It is probably the best client EQEmu has ever had.

I have no ETA, unfortunately. Only Rogean is able to make the Public Login Server work with SoD and he has been busy with P1999 being down. My best guess is that the Public Login Server may work with SoD sometime after the P1999 issues are worked out.

Again, you can still play on PEQ using SoD right now without having to wait. I don't know which server you were planning to play on, but PEQ is a popular one and currently supports SoD on their own Login Server. You can find more details on their website if you are interested:

I have thought about setting up my own separate Login Server for a dual LS system like PEQ has, to at least give my players a way to try out the SoD client until the Public one works for it. I just haven't had much time yet to work on that as I have been busy with SoD work for EQEmu :)
