Why is Win xp so hard to work with lol
Been trying to log onto my freinds server and i cant even get a character made before I get booted back to the server screen. I run Win Xp, and have dropped down to 16-Bit color as suggested on another post. Nothing either my friend, or I do seems to remedy this problem. My datarate is set to 9.0, I have the host.txt file in the directory... nada. I can make it as far as the submitting name to server for approval, then poof. Also, when I load up to the server select screen for the first time, and try to log onto my friend's server, I get a 1017 error, I click OK, then I can load up his server with the above problem. I feel the 2 are somehow connected. BTW, no I do not have Win xp firewall up. Any and all help will earn you a beer ;)

well our cable modems (mine and arch) are good for downloading.. but they limit the upload speed to like 15kbps =\

<-- Hates XP
no comment - Gimme Linux or Win2k...I'll stick with those until MS decides to quit being fairy like with the OS.

99% of the problems are user error (something wrong with ini files probably).. if you have problems, its a good idea to post your ini and bat file's here (mask passwords though).. Read the post entitled "Read this post BEFORE you ask for help!" to see what i mean :) |
These are my ini files.. can you tell anything from this?

ahaa I found the problem....you forgot to fill in your password!!
 J/K |
stop blaming XP
damn stop blaming XP
if you think you have problems now go ahead and try running a linux box your problems will quadrouple, not because linux sucks, but because you'll have no clue WTF your doing in it just take a time-out and re setup everything for the emu from scratch NOTE: Emu doesn't work, (if you don't have an IP address from an ISP/Cable/DSL provider), over the internet.....ie.....192.168.0-254.1-255 <----- Crap IPs if tryin to connect OVER the internet. |
Well ive tryed 3 different OS's.
Yes i know how to setup the emu (like i said works great) untill the char screen. win98 winXP Linux. All do the same thing. Its an upload bandwith issue. Wonder if i call my cable company they would trade downspeed bandwith for upstream. gd stingy adelphia. |
btw...I still think XP is a big part of the problem....I'm running Linux with no problems..please read why in the off topic forum...

Runicmyst, It would help if you told us the problem in the same post lol.. aside from the db.ini password being blank (which i assume was you just masking PW which is good), you could try making your worldname longer. EQEmu doesnt like very short worldnames (dunno why).
