eq not respnding

im running windows xp black edition on a sony viaio desktop with a graphics card and almost 500 g hardrive. i look in my windows task manager when i proceed to click on server to enter game and it shows me as "game not responding." do you know of any free servers for EQ 1? thanks.

might be a processor issue, do you have multiple cores?
