Question for the "public" Server admins
 

I was just trying to get an idea of how much monthly bandwidth (on average),
a server like Project1999 would use with its average clients ?

I generally see about 5kbps up and maybe 2kbps down per character online (rough average). So, if you want to reach 800+ players, you are probably talking about 4mbps up and 1.6mbps down or so at least. Ideally, you would probably want much more than that to account for spikes like raid or AE activity and such.

Oh, thats not too bad then, thanx. I used to run an IRC server back in the
90's when networks like DALnet, etc., were in their prime, so I wasn't sure
how a game server like this compared to that.
For an extra $60 a month, I can get 5 Mbps (up) from my ISP, without
having to put a rack mount in a data center.
But even now, with that kind of bandwidth, I could handle up to a 100 toons,
which I probably wouldn't even get close to that, lol.
