Randomly freezing while zoning

I get it on p1999 and the Irreverent. My EQ just freezes up while I zone and I have to close it and relog every time.

I'd say this occurs 15-20% of the time when I zone. It doesn't matter where I am zoning to.

I play on an acer laptop, titanium client.

Intel Atom 1.6 gHz (2 CPUs)
1 gig of RAM
Intel GMA graphics 256 MB

Same thing happens to me occasionally. Although I haven't entirely fixed it, I have had several sessions where I did not get any crashes.
Are you running windows 7 or vista?
It might help if you run compatibility mode at a different setting or messing with administrator mode. Also have you tried other resolutions or EQwindows.

Hope this helps

Yeah, even though I don't think it is possible to 100% prevent crashing on zoning, one major cause is multi-core CPUs on Titanium clients. The client just wasn't made to support multiple CPUs and you may need to apply 1 or more fix to resolve it. The FAQ in my sig has some suggestions. For Titanium, I always use the shortcut edit that forces Titanium to a specific core.

This does happen with my SoD client too and is very annoying.

Also, it does occur on both of my systems:
Windows 7 32 bit / Intel Mobile Processor (Notebook)
Windows 7 64 bit / Intel Quad Core

Cant run XP Compatibility Mode, because that makes the client crash at start (windows error).

Theres some strange line in the world server window:

Code:

"Telling client to continue session. Unable to get group id, char not found!"
Could that have anything to do with that issue?

I was browsing the P99 forums and found people having the same problem. And a possible solution: Deactivating "Texture Caching" in OptionsEditor.exe.

Well, I can only say that I havent got any zone crash since I made that change.
Good Luck!

Texture caching made no diffeence for me, same problem

It doesnt eliminate the problem, but for me, it happens only very rarely now.
