Memory Could Not Be Read - when starting eqgame shortcut w/patchme
I just bought the underfoot expansion from steam
changed the eqhosts file created a shortcut and appended patchme to the end when I run the file, the game flickers for about a second and then immediately crashes with a message telling me it could not read a sector of memory. Is there something else I need to do with the steam version of the game? Thanks |
Look for the folder Everquest then copy that too c prompt
location of folder Steam\steamapps\common fix icon links after you moved it over to a new location then run game. you'll have to do this for win 7 x64 |
Change your desktop resolution to something like 1024x768 or 1280x1024 before you run it the first time. Once you get through the initial setup you can change it back to normal.

I moved my files to c:\everquest as suggest and had the same issue. Is there something else I need to do?
To make sure it wasn't obvious human error, I installed the program on a win7 x86 machine. It runs fine on that machine (except that I have only 1 gig of ram). Any help getting it running on my win7 x64 machine would be greatly appreciated =) |
oh, wow. so, my company laptop has an awkward resolution...just for shits and giggles, I made it bump down to something standard. the memory exception did not pop up. so, i put the client in not full screen mode and can now use it at any resolution. =D

phonix06 for win 7 x64 computer edit eqclient.ini
[VideoMode] Width=1024 Height=768 WindowedWidth=1024 WindowedHeight=746 FullscreenRefreshRate=0 FullscreenBitsPerPixel=32 Make sure your FullscreenRefreshRate=Zero then save and run client. you might have to copy eqclient.ini file 2 desktop and make changes then copy back too client. |
