Question about updating maps and quests.

I've been reading through all the guides and I almost decided to get into it and see if I could make this work on my computer. Then I hit this part...
• In your server folder, right-click the Maps folder and select SVN Checkout. In the URL of Repository section, paste:
http://eqemumaps.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/Maps
• This can take a very long time to download as the map files are pretty large
• In your server folder, right-click the quests folder and select SVN Checkout. In the URL of Repository section, paste:
http://projecteqquests.googlecode.com/svn/trunk/quests
• This keeps your quests updated, and is highly recommended to maintain as it's updated regularly!

I read in another thread somewhere that the 'maps' download is 3gb+. Since I'm on dialup (yeah I know) is there a way someone on cable to download it for me then I can move it to my computer?

And I'll ask before I forget, do the updates after the first big one get smaller? And how often do people update them?

Thanks

Yes, you can move them from one computer to another. Updates happen rarely if at all. Usually they updates are .path files once in a while.

I do not think the Maps have updated in the last 3 months.

As for the quests and such, those update more frequently but those are small and should not be a problem, even on dial-up.

Pretty sure the maps repo is full and thus no new zones are being added to it(pretty much any zone after DoDH). You can make the maps yourself with AZone though.

The maps download is only 300 meg

The maps download should be much larger than 300MB. My maps directory 3.97GB. Even when compressed the zip file is 1.04GB.
