EQE window just shuts after selecting enter server.
 

hi,

well time to post here, i have followed all the guides to get setup, i can get right up to the server selection, i have tried a few different servers but get the same result. the EQ window will shut with no error when i select and hit enter world, i can not get to character selection screen... i was thinking it could be a UI error, but there is no logs showing this. all i can find in the way of errors are. have folks seen this or have any suggestions. again i have followed the setup guides step by step..

Error - snd1.pfs is not a PFS file

well, after more troubleshooting (as i do) i have copied over a few files from the live game so all the snd*.pfs files from my live game have got me past and loading to chartacter selection.. seems like vequip.s3d is missing now?

agrr...

lol im like just typing to myself .. but owell ..

hey next thing i have now got past the login server and at character selection! ... but most of the screen is black, i can see boarders and buttons like create new character .. i can see fog, i can see newbie name, just no models, its like the world is black?

id do some more reading but anyone have a fix?

i just took all the resource files from real folder and placed them into my EQE folder ..

ill let you know if i get onto a server!

I have an underfoot install, i have followed all the write ups, so i have connected made a character, but everytime i enter the world i get this error, I have tried all servers i get the same thing, tried a few differnet ideas, around UI and old files. but still same result...

anyone able to help please

ok so after moving all my *s3d files from live game. i went and grab all the rendereffects from SPL and MPL folders and put these into my eqe folder (this gave me visales).. so with all these changes i could get to character select make a toon, my problem is not being able to connect to server now, i have made a new post ..

troubleshooting use dbg.txt in your log directory, this will show you were and what file you are failing to load, just replace them as they fail. took me about 1 hour to get all the correct files working.

It helps to know which client version you are trying to run. The only one that has missing files is the Underfoot client, so I assume that is the one you are running. If so, you should check this page:

EDIT: I combined your new thread with this one, because they are both the same issue even if they are different symptoms. I see you mention you are running the underfoot client, but did you get it from Steam? If so, I would suggest you delete it and download it again from Steam. It sounds like you have a corrupt install or something. Even though the Underfoot client is missing files, it is still very playable with just a few glitches even if none of the files are replaced. Your issue of not even being able to fully log in (etc) is not something that happens on a standard UF install from Steam. My guess is that you either accidentally patched to Live (even a little) or you installed Underfoot from an illegal download which could be broken in any number of ways and is not supported here.

its underfoot from stream, no i havent patched in anyway.. im pretty onto it and can work most things out, ie using logs and searching the forums ...

my concern is now, i made a post yesterday about not getting to the server after selecting charater .. i get server not responding.. i put a log up, but the post has been deleted? ..

real servers back up so im not too worried, but was looking forward to some old school EQ ..

Your post didn't get deleted, I combined it into this thread, and you can see it a few posts up from this one.

If you were basing your issues on trying to connect to P99, then that may be your main problem. P99 does not support any client other than Titanium, so you won't be able to connect to it on the UF client. Most other servers (like PEQ, THF, EZ and Storm haven) can use the newer clients though.
