Returning player - What server?

Hello,

I'm returning to EQ Classic after time on EQ2. Is The Hidden Forest a good place to play?

Thanks!

it's not bad. it feels well thought out (at least the portions I played.)

I liked Storm Haven better; and I think Akkadius' server is getting some cool new content in the near future.

Of those, I found the people on Storm Haven to be friendly and helpful; and on Akkadius, Akkadius is often willing to help new players with common problems.

Its all about personal preference. Go out and try servers see what suits you as a player. Everyone here is different. all about your play style, what you like in the servers, PVP vs PVE there is everything.

I'm on hidden forest with 2 family members and we're really liking it. Each of us are 2 boxing and the crap we hated about EQ has been removed (finding spells, getting basic gear, transportation). Plus they've added a wack of customized content.

Previous poster is right though, maybe this isn't for you. There is a lot of single player content, and you're allowed one BoT as far as I know.

Good luck.

I miss playing EQ. I miss having the close camaraderie I felt in my very first guild. I miss the excitement of seeing a new zone for the first time, and playing my butt off in a game that doesn't hand you everything that WoW does. And to be frank, I miss the grind. Whats the best server to find that kind of atmosphere?

P1999 is set up to match early eq feel and has a large player base. Sounds like you'd like that server.

If you have the patience to watch paint dry, p99 is a rewarding throw back of the era where paper and pen met 3D gaming. Early EQ, as a child, was both rewarding because of her sense of wonder and also challenging because of the generally retarded way that quests and story seemed to have no correlation. (Lion meat anyone?)
As the franchise matured, she blossomed into a beautiful 1st gen MMO; sadly, because she refused to put out, many entrants to the MMO genre sought easier gaming in WoW.
The reduced pursuit of EQ past her formative years left her a dried up has-been, played mostly by 1-man teams, passing through her from toon to toon.

EQ Emu gives you the chance to remember EQ through any of these lenses. It also allows you to see what EQ might have been had she dressed differently, partied less, was more purposeful in her advancements, etc.

I think most servers will give you the chance to play with other players. Some sooner than others; and some more consistently than others.
