*Desdemona Bot code

I was wondering if the custom (and awesome bot code) on this server was planning on being uploaded into the source code to replace existing bot code. If this is something you are willing to share I for one would be very thankful. Either way nice work.

How do the bots work on that server? The server website doesn't go into too much detail.

It like have a merc of any class you do not have to pay for. you can may them do things like heal, port, snare, ect. Can have up to 5 out per account atm.

But there again, what makes them stand out from the existing BOT code ? The normal Eqemulator BOT code can do all of those things, maybe not snare but that would be easy to implement.

2 Main items

1) There bots will tank and not autogive up aggro to PC. So rogue pcs can backstab etc.

2) #bot heal was implemented

I have seen ways to change code prior to compile to enable item 1 but not item 2.

On my server

In order to improve bot heals I ended up removing nukes from clerics and dots from shamans and changed priority to direct heals over heals over time but still get complaints about why cant I tell my bot to heal me like I can tell him to cure me.

A wish list item I would love if feasible would be a #bot command that would toggle hold aggro or not hold aggro. This would make playing a non-tank character easier.

When I hear things like that I start thinking that since you could not necessarily command a person in live to immediately heal you, well....

Well i guess you could but it would not be immediate. Also no guarantee that they would be awake.

HA, I've been guilty on occasion on live as a cleric to fall asleep on those long raids. :-D

100% truth there.

I remember XPing in Dreadlands and the cleric fell asleep on the keyboard, we just go a long line of random text and nothing. Ending up having to get a GM to boot him.

Is the consenus that #bot heal is not a desired or needed feature or one that would be welcome. I agree that it may be more live like without but i for one would love to force my healers to heal and not nuke.

provocating 12-02-2011 12:20 AM

Are you saying the #heal would just make them not nuke or are you saying an immediate heal being cast ? I simply just removed the ability of them being able to nuke, we went that route back when we used bots.

GurkhaPanzers 12-03-2011 10:02 AM

Could implement it like this

#bot heal - bot starts casting fast heal
#bot healtime - bot starts casting heal over time
#bot healcomplete - bot starts casting complete heal

This way nothing is instant

provocating 12-03-2011 10:22 AM

I could see that being more fair. I mean in live you could scream for a heal.

Maybe make a random chance nothing to happen. To emulate the cleric on the keyboard.......just kidding.
