Cannot get the game to start. Please help.
I have a feeling that I did something wrong. Please tell me what it is that I need to do.
So it's like this. First of all, I have had a LS account for years, I just haven't touched it in about 2 years. I assume that it's still active. Anyways, I installed Titanum, and immediately afterward I went straight into the Everquest folder, found the EQHost.TXT file, and copied the information the Play guide says to do, and pasted it into the text document: [LoginServer] Host=eqemulator.net:5998 And I right clicked on the EQGame file, created a shortcut, put it on the desktop, and found the target section, and added the following, with a space before the word: patchme With that, I double clicked EQgame, and got the following error: Could not establish a connection. Please check your network connection or contact(a sony email address.) I'm lost at this point. What did I do wrong? Thank you for your time. edit: Oh, and btw, if it matters, I'm on windows xp. |
click http://www.eqemulator.org/forums/pro...do=loginserver or click on user cp then click on login server at the bottom left hand conner. create a new account if you have too.

Anyways, I don't see how that would literally prevent the game from loading up when I click on EQGame, and stop this weird error message as a result of clicking on EQGame, but anyways, I do have a Login Server account: Account 1: *the user name* (the account number that I'm not sure if it's safe or not to give out.) Edit: BTW, please, let me stress this. I at very least am pretty sure that I did everything the site suggested, except for one thing I somehow missed by accident. The problem, and this is the really important part that truly needs to be grasped is this. When I click on the shortcut to the EQGame, after I put patchme at the end of it like the play guide told me to, NOTHING loads up, other than the very small window with the EXACT same message that I already posted. In other words, no login screen, no part of Everquest at all, or anything like it, just a message saying there's a connection error, and to contact Sony about it. Oh, and btw, my connection is fine. So if you can think of what I did wrong, please help me out. |
Ok, I re-installed the game, and all is well now. Yay!

i'm having the same issue as OP, though re-installing hasn't fixed it. i've done everything in the setup guide correctly.
i'm running win7x64. i tried xp/98/95 compatibility mode, but no luck there. any ideas? |
here's the dump log. as far as i know, the only thing that should cause this should be an incorrect entry in the hosts file, but mine is correct.

The file you want to create the shortcut to and add patchme to the command line is eqgame.exe, not everquest.exe.

ugh, dumb mistake. good catch - thanks much.
