Making DB accessible from a different computer
So, trying to have my coder connect to my Database and I can't to figure out how to him ABLE to connect...
Just tell me what to post here and I'll post it. |
All I know off hand is he should really only need your IP address and port then the log/pass of the server.
Assuming of course you already have ports forwarded and such already. Atleast thats how I do it on my lan server from this comp. Accessing the db just needed the lan ip 192.168.1.xx. But since he is outside your lan you would need your IP seen from the net and such and port forwarding on your router to your server machine. If you left the default as per most guides the db has port 3306. Also when you installed MySQL you would have needed to made sure you clicked on allow remote admin, otherwise you would have to go into the folder and run the configurator within your sql folder. |
The number I use for the router (From server) is 192.168.2.1.... (Belkin is shit)
xx.xxx.xx.18x is what 'What's my IP' says... I've clicked the remote admin and gave him the information. |
