Customizing Spell Icons
 

Hello all. I'm heading off into Norrath once again. Something I'd really like to do here is customize my spell icons. I have this old set of tking icon art but it's a version or two ahead of the set in use on p1999. I've opened all the gem icon and spell .tga files and have begun to painstakingly replace them one by one. The gem icons give you some manner of 'legend' but i'd really like to know how to identify them all properly. For example in the spell icon tga files theres 7 yellow shields. Rather than actually number them 1-7 and wait in-game to see what's what I'd really like to get it as specialized as possible. I would greatly appreciate a nudge in the right direction.

I am going to assume that by 'identify' you mean that you want to see which icon corresponds to which spell.

I have some suggestions;

- Load the PEQ DB and search for the spell, then look at the 'icon' and 'new_icon' fields.
- Use one of the spell editing tools - some may open spells_us.txt instead of needing to connect to the DB.
- Document what you find and share it with us so the next person to do this has a better place to start :p
