Error 1018 - Have tried reinstalling and everything
 

Last night i /camp to exit the game, came in this morning and have been constantly receiving the Error 1018 stating i currently have an active character.

No one has my password or login information.
I have only ever logged in from 1 computer.
I have uninstalled and reinstalled EQ Titanium

The only thing i did differently today than any other day, was i attempted to log into the Hidden Forest, instead of p99. I was going to take a peak around. But then decided otherwise, and came back to try and log in to p1999.

Now i cannot.

I have viewed many posts in regards to this, where the people over at p1999 will say its EQEmu's fault. Then the people here at EQEmu will say its p1999's fault. I would prefer not to have to deal with finger pointing. But apparently this issue happens often, and currently it's happening to me. I have reinstalled completely, and need help figuring this out.

Also, i tried logging in from my wife's PC, and it didnt work. Still gave me the Error 1018. But my wife is capable of playing on her account.

It fixed itself, or someone fixed it for me. If someone did, Thank you so much! :)

The problem has re-emerged again this morning. None of my characters are showing to be online to anyone on my friends list. My wife and I have IP Exemptions, and she can /who me and i do not show up.

You should probably ask this on the forums for the server you're playing on.

We've been over this several times in many posts. We have requested help from both forums and both parties (P1999 and eqemulator.org) blame the problem on the other. Good luck trying to get help for this issue. I've tried for months now.

i've only heard of people having this issue with one server. that is generally a fairly reasonable indicator as to the where the issue is.

I'm not denying this, just saying that the issue probably will never be fixed due to this.

If you can connect to other servers fine, then the issue is not with EQEmu no matter how much others may want to blame it on EQEmu. These types of issues are pretty clear about what the possible cause can be. Either something is wrong on the server you are playing on, or something is wrong with your client.

Considering you tried playing on THF, then I would say the issue could have been with the custom files that THF uses assuming you installed them for playing there. But, since you said the issue also happened on your wife's PC which works fine for her account, it points to 1 single point of failure which is your account/chars on P99.

IP Limiting is managed by the individual servers that use it, and EQEmu has no affect or control over that. This sounds to be pretty clearly an IP limit issue, which has nothing to do with EQEmu.

If someone has a valid argument as to why EQEmu might be to blame, I would be interested to see it.

It looks like the issue is already resolved, but I wanted to try to clarify that this is/was not an EQEmu issue.

Should just sticky a thread that says "P99 players, your issues are not EQEmu issues."
How people assume an issue with a server is some how caused by the login server is beyond me.

Doesn't the account or server go through the login server first when connecting?

We just need someone with access to debug the issue using an account that's experiencing the problem.

Yes, but as soon as they select a server and click on connect, it is in the hands of the server they are connecting to. If they can connect to other servers fine, then there is no question about where the issue is (it is on the specific server that they are having an issue on).

This issue will never be resolved based on my research. Tons of people have been posting about it happening and both parties simply hand-wave the issue away by blaming someone else. This lack of communication between teams is frustrating.

Error 1018
 

This is the 3rd day in a row that I am having this issue and unable to play Everquest. I have looked up several different threads to see if its my system but from what I read the issue is only for project 1999 servers and none of the other ones. Some folks have written that if you log off using the 'camp' option, i.e., not using /camp server or /camp desktop you don't get the error but that is not the case. I am only able to log on to project 1999 servers ONLY after midnight, which is ridiculous. I really wanted the original Everquest experience like I had back in 1998. It is unfortunate that this 1018 error from the old everquest still exists but unlike Sony who fixed the issue EQEmu is unable/unwilling to. I have enjoyed the company and seemingly better quality of people than the old everquest and extremely few immature players. I would love to continue playing everquest but if I keep getting error 1018 all day long except after midnight then that venture may not be possible to keep up much longer. Project 1999 : Ruins of Kunark

So, looking at the P1999 forums I can't see anyone blaming EQEMU for 1018 errors.. it appears to be universally acknowledged that this is a server specific problem.
