Bazaar Bots

I saw there was a server with Bazaar bots. This feature is beyond awesome. Is that code shared or kept for only the server who developed it?

sorvani 01-26-2013 02:48 AM

Server names are generally useful information to supply when asking about a specific server.

The only server I know ( I do not check a lot of server though) with offline bazaar selling is EQTitan.

EQTitan developers have chosen to not share anything back to the community.

Another unnamed server has the same function and the same attitude.

I will require this for my server in the coming weeks and will be releasing the implementation publicly. Stay tuned.

Just as an aside. A possible reason other folks may have kept this private is because it provides a competitive edge, or difference, for their server. I do not have this concern.

sounds like someone might feel that everyone that puts time in effort into developing something is obligated to share it.

If you are referring to me: I don't think this is so 'special' that it is worth holding on too tightly to. We're not talking about the Colonel's Recipe here :D

i'm not referring to you. it was directed at anyone who would imply that a group making the choice to not share something they developed themselves has a poor attitude and should be stigmatized.

i understand how community projects are driven, but it's just the nature of the beast. nobody looks down on the guy who uses the end result and can't give back because he is incapable, so why the animosity towards those who can but choose not to? it all boils down to the same thing in the end, right? taking but not giving back?

NOTE: i'm not affiliated with any group of developers. i putter around on my own. just playing devil's advocate here.

I was stating a fact, nothing more. Tread more into if you want, but that is all it was, a statement.

Offline trading is a new feature of the RoF client and will get implemented at some point the way Sony designed it.

What a large group of people dislike is the server that will ask others for help but when you ask them for help/advice you get ignored.
That is where a lot of us define them as having a poor attitude.
Understandable that a terrible request is ignored, I mean look at the average Noport post or Kingmort, I ignore shit like that all day long.

Anyways as Sony stated and Sorvani just said:

If they wish to share code great and if not well its theirs so no complaint.
