Game freezes when I select a server (RoF)

I am having the same problem a couple others are.

I just downloaded RoF via Steam. I followed the instructions (changed host, added patchme to properties, etc). I log in fine, see the list of Emu servers, but the second I click one, my screen goes black and freezes.
Anyone know why this could be happening?

Servers I have tried to log into: Stormhaven, EZ Server.

I ran it.

Still freezing when I select a server.

I downloaded the Steam game, change host path as instructed, added patchme as instructed, thats all I need to do as a former EQemu user, right? Since I have the accounts and whatnot.

as far as i'm aware, yes.

i'm assuming you're able to log on with an older client, right?

I have not tried older clients as I bought a new computer since playing on EQemu and installed RoF just now. But other posts I am reading with similar issues (locking up when you click a server) have not had luck with older clients. And these servers are RoF compatible so something is wrong on my end, I don't know.

do you have the correct version of direct x installed?

What is the correct version? I've been playing retail EQ for a year now. Getting Started guide doesn't mention what directX is needed.

c0ncrete 02-12-2013 02:03 AM

it's not in the guide because it's not really an emulator requirement. it's an everquest installation requirement.

I have directx11 according to my dxdiag, I am pretty sure this has nothing to do with my issue of freezing at server select.

Guess ill download an older version over night since I dont know what else to do.

DX11 is integrated with WIndows 7.. I am not sure wtf you are talking about. It can't even be deleted. Ive been playing EQ this whole time using DX11. I cant install 9.0c because my version is newer. If you have anything to help then please do but you really aren't by facepalming. You're just wasting my time.

What part of "I am playing EQ1 just fine right now" dont you understand? I just logged into my retail EQ via Steam with DX11 (ive told you this 20 times). Problem is when I adjust to EQemu host, it freezes.
