Not a valid win 32
I followed the most recent guide exactly as it said to. I did this twice on 2 different computers. One with windows 7 pro and one with windows xp pro.
The windows 7 compile runs flawlessly. The xp pro sever however comes with an error saying its not a valid win32 application. I have already verified that none of the files are corrupt by moving it to another of the many win7 pcs in my home and it booted flawlessly. This leads me to believe that the xp pro machine is missing something all the win7 machines have but i can not figure out what it is. Any help would be appreciated. |
My answer may not be exactly correct, but could it have to do with the fact that XP isn't necessarily a x32 OS? I mean, there's some compatibility, but not necessarily all of it.

Thats the first I have ever heard anything like that

i'm running on xp pro, service pack 3. compiled the binaries with vs 2010.
Hmm could try that and see what happens
0.o You don't have the Service Packs? I also use VS 2010.

To run on XP, you need to compile as 32-bit and you need to have the proper Visual Studio runtime installed on the machine.
Windows 7 -> Windows XP, Windows 7 is 64-bit or 32-bit, Windows XP is 32-bit, are you transferring 64-bit programs/files and trying to run them?
Win7 is 64 bit xp is 32 and this was 2 separate compiles. One compile on 64 bit win7 and one compile on 32 bit xp
Ah, okay. It may be the issue from earlier, incorrect Visual Studio or Service Pack.

Somebody shoot me now lol. I feel so stupid. It may just be the compiler lol. Thought i was using vc++ 2010 it was 2008 whoops. Will redo everything from scratch tomorrow just with vc++2010 instead of 2008 this time lol. I gets worse but im too embarassed to admit to the other mistakes. Lets just say I have some PC cleaning to do so that doesnt happen again. Too many vc solutions in one place rofl.
2008 works fine.
Yes but i was trying to run a back up copy of my server from my windows 7 machine and not the one I had just compiled in xp. Gonna have to store that backup somewhere else lol till i get this mess straightened out rofl. How i made that mistake is beyond me but none the less i did make it. Got way too many compiles going on at the same time and must of have got them mixed up somehow.
