Why are some zones set with a min_status?

In the zone table some of the zones are set with a min_status value of 80 or 100. I know how to set it to zero so everyone can get in there, but what I don't understand is why it was set so in the first place. Anyone know?

They are set that way because that is how PEQ has zones that are not finished set.

Ah. I was just going to say that it looks like faction is not setup there. Thanks for the answer.

Would you happen to know what a min_status setting of 80 means verses a setting of 100?

Maze_EQ 02-27-2013 09:09 PM

Probably the GM status required to enter?

I think it might be how the client makes sure people using Titanium don't end up zoning into revamped zones they do not own the files for.

Sorry, I should clarify. It is the GM status required to enter the zone, that much is clear. I don't think it has to do with Titanium since that is the client I use and I can get into some of these zones (both those set to 80 and 100) if I set status appropraitely.

My latest question is in response to what lerxst2112 said:

So to rephrase: In regards to the zone being unfinished, does anyone know what an 80 might mean vs a setting of 100?

You could ask on the peq forums. Perhaps different people have different access depending on what they are working on.

I can't find the code reference atm, but here is a wikki link:

http://www.eqemulator.net/wiki/wikka...kka=GMCommands

It shows that level 80 is 'Guide' and level 100 is 'Gm - Admin.'

This has nothing to do with what zones a client supports..that is hard-coded into the client itself.

Maze_EQ 02-27-2013 11:25 PM

Was my reply not simple enough?

@Uleat and @lerxst2112
Both excellent comments, thanks (both of you helpful and polite as usual). That last question I had was about quite a trivial matter and I appreciate you obliging me.

I kinda doubt the difference between 80 and 100 in the table are intentional. The intention is just to lock normal players out of the zones with a min_status set. Most likely, since different expansions/zones were added to the DB at different times, possibly by different people, and maybe some even from SQL that was not directly from the PEQ team, the min_status used to keep people out was probably varied by whoever created that entry. In other words, I don't think there is any significant reasoning behind the 80/100 difference.

The 80 vs 100 status as far as accessing a zone definitely isn't intended (basically just GM or not). But there are different access levels for different GMs/Guides on PEQ for other commands. You will see it in the quest code as well, allowing some levels of GM to carry raids into test zones etc.
