Allowing (non-GM) access to a locked server
Is it possible to allow an account to log in to a server while it is locked, without having to make that account a GM account?
I would like to have a few selected ppl log into my server while it is locked, but I want these accounts to 'normal' accounts but still be able to get past the 'locked' status on server select screen. is that possible? |
You can bump up status without being GM flagged.

I believe you have to make the account for that person 80 or higher status for that to be possible, but you can just move commands around.

Or lower the amount required to join to something like 5..

Yeah, that too.

This post highlights a decent project for someone. A more robust access/privilege system as single number is a little restricting.
In this case, locked bypass could just be a flag in the account table. It would allow people to run closed testing etc without needing to worry about what the effects of changing 'status' will have. |
thanks for the suggestions, ill try things out tonight when I get home. I'll report back what works.

I tried the above suggestions, and none of them seem to work. Its possible that I just didn't implement them correctly. However, I did settle on a work-around, I hope it isn't cringe-worthy.
thru troubleshooting, I was able to see that an account needed a status of 100 in order to bypass the 'locked' server. So I re-assigned all GM commands that were under 100, to a value above 100. (I did this in a way that is easily restored if needed). Then flagged some TEST user accounts as status 100. These accounts can now bypass the locked server, without having the ability to execute those GM commands. I am still developing the server and haven't run into any issues with the work-around as of yet. |
Isn't there a line in the eqemuconfig.xml that states the access level?
|
Yes, under zones: <defaultstatus>###</defaultstatus>

if my default status is zero, when clients connect they get a status of 0. But with the server locked, you will need to flag that account as status 100 in order that account to bypass the server lock. in my case, I opened (temporarily unlocked) the server and had those users login and create an account(which got flagged with 0 status per the default setting in the xml file) I then manually changed the status to 100 and locked the server. Those 'status 100' accounts were then able to logon and bypass the 'locked' screen. |
