Spell duplicates
 

I have always wondered, why are there duplicate spells? Some spells I see up to 4 or 5 with the same name, normally the id numbers will be way off like the spell came from a way newer expansion.

I am just cleaning up some things and removing duplicates and spells/items from newer expansions.

I haven't checked yet, but I assumed this was because some of the spells had been revised (A.K.A. NERFED) several times. For instance wizard's Ice Comet spell. It originally used to do 1157 ice based damage and was the ultimate nuke, then was nerfed back to around 860 damage, making it a trivial spell. Even the magician DD spells do more damage than Ice comet now... Other spells have been changed even more.

So more than likely the lower number would always be the more classic flavor.
