EQEmu ecommons more classic than p99
 

In p99's quest to please the donators (or themselves not sure) they have utterly wasted east commons. As a 13 year old in 99 I played eq only that summer and fall so my memories of ecommons are as acurate as possible.

Eqemu e commons is so close to how it was in 99 why did p99 mess with it? The only fixes it needs are getting rid of the young pumas and giant fire beetles and lions. Why did they add in an air elemental? This was never in 99 eq. Why did they introduce a roaming lesser mummy? This was never in 99 eq. Why did they add more lions and lionesses? This was only in the qeynos side never in the commons. Why did they introduce giant scarabs? This was only ever in ro.

I have no idea what they were thinking must have been some 2001/2002 or just plain mistaken comments they saw on way back machiene, they are nowhere near classic e commons. EQEmu e commons feels much more classic.

What is the point you are trying to get across here?

P99 started with a DB snapshot dated many years and years ago and does not reflect what PEQ has currently in ecommons as many things have changed since that point.

P99 related questions really don't belong here as no one affiliated really walks these forums often as this is more a general EQEmu community forum area.

Regardless of why you put this here, it isn't very constructive.

It's appreciated you made these observations but, many will perceive this as a rant or continuation of the known contempt you have for P99.

I suggest putting the energy into more constructive tasks.

You said Classic, you realize that p1999 is currently in Velious? They are very accurate. You have to think you have an average of 1200 players picking that server apart every day. If anyone is accurate they are, they do a damned good job at being accurate. Quit the hate.

Is this not server discussion? I am comparing servers based on my memory of classic 99 eq. What I said are my exact memories which I feel are very accurate.

Dude your post is calling out p99 on them changing zones, of course they change zones, they are in Velious.

so you are saying that soe changed things from classic in velious then returned them to classic later on? I'm saying current eqemu is more classic ecommons than p99

All that means is that they did an initial packet sniff that long ago and never did a newer one, pretty simple. Besides they are pushing using both eastcommonlands and ecommons, depending on client.

You seem to be super hung up on p99 for some reason and none of us understand it. It's unwarranted. Several of us had our server populations destroyed by p99 yet here we still are.

That's fine you can think that but all my memories of EQ were from 99 and mist of my time was spent in east commons. It is what it is. And if you all had your server pop's destroyed by p99 then what I am doing is very warranted.

Why be bitter about some developers that do a damn good job. It just makes me want to hone my craft more.

So between this thread and the other super long rant session in a different thread, it seems you are complaining to no end obviously raging against P99.

For a brief moment, I was "feelin ya" as they say, but then not. And now come to find out, you don't seem to know EQEMU at all, like, beyond perhaps running Akka's repack.

My reply is non-constructive, nor did I intend on it being so. Rather, it's perhaps just to demonstrate, that perhaps you and others that feel the same as you, should take a step back, breathe, and reevaluate things.

If ALL the work was shared, only two things would result:

1. You'd have 40 servers running the same copy (regardless of how authentic) and to my knowledge, there aren't even 40 official Live servers anymore, so population would scatter (best case scenario)

2. People would end up hacking away at the released quests/DB to where, it becomes moot.

Am I missing something? I have to be.
