Error 1017 - Windows Server Setup

Hi All,

New to the forum. I'm excited to get a EQ lan server up so my kids and I can play together. I haven't played in almost 18 years and they're just old enough to start.

Anyways, I've installed the server, made all the changes to the client and server config files and I keep getting this error when I try to join the server I created:

Error 1017: Cannot login to the Everquest server. you may need to re-run the Update Patch.

When I point my client to the eqemulator.org servers, everything seems to run fine. This only happens when I run on my local server.

The server is running Windows 10 Pro x64 with latest updates (including Fall Creators)

Have tried from 2 computers and same result.

Can anyone help point me in the right direction?

Thanks,
Chris

Does that help?

I saw this earlier. It refers to a eqemu_config.xml file that I cannot find. I have a eqemu_config.json file instead. There is a mailserver entry, but I guess it won't hurt to add a chatserver entry to test. I'll update afterwards

It didn't like that.

Does anyone have this working with Windows 10 and Fall Creators Update? If not, I may just downgrade to W7 or install server 2012

Post your eqemu_config file and I'll help as much as I can (take out your password info if you have set it.)

Note, within the config file it connects to your database using the credentials listed. The database may be listed as "eq" rather than "peq" and you may also need to at least set the user and password to root (user) eqemu (password,) or whatever you changed the password too.
