Sneaky Cable Company
Our cable ISP here started issuing a new cable/wifi modem this last year, but they forgot to
mention one little detail to the customers, which they posted on their support site, but nobody sees that unless they are looking for something, and even the install techs don't tell a new customer. Might be old news for some, but it's a new thing around here. These (Hitron) modems have a secondary WiFi built in, to be used as a hotspot for the public, without the need for a user/password. This feature is enabled by default when a new customer gets it installed. I've always logged into a modem and shut the wifi off completely, because I have no use for it, but the unsuspecting people (like a friend of mine) recently had a problem with wifi lag which was solved after the "hotspot" feature was disabled. Lol. I'm probably just venting here, but the crappy antics of these ISP's are too much somedays. |
I might have to take a road trip to your town then. I need to download last season of the Walking Dead.
