Non local SQL database

Is it possible to use a non local MySQL database or do I have to install MySQL on my server ?

I run mysql remotely, its just alot slower to start the zones.. (takes longer to load the database cache via a 10/100 connection as opposed to localhost)

Make sure you allow access to the db you're trying to use which you can setup in the user and db table in the mysql database.

And also check you have networking enabled for mysql which can be found in your mysql config.
