EQ in Unity...
So.. a while back I started this project, but as I learned more I made progress.
The big draw back people had in a new client was just all the work to get it to fit. So, what if you took all of EQ already designed and just remade it? While it sounds like a lot, I can bust out a designed zone (without MOBs or NPCs) in a few days. ALSO, I already have a full featured MMO server/client set up. Complete with Auction house, chats, guilds, groups, mail etc.... Check out these videos I have been making...(I am boring but hey, it's EQ so enjoy!!) More than a day
I can dress up a zone in a few days, all told I would say each zone to look presentable will take about 2 weeks. Most the prep is getting it ready in Blender converting to Unity terrain so I can manipulate it there.

Beggers can be choosers?
I'd say go about it 1 of 2 ways... 1) Do starting zonse up to level 20 then release. 2) Do some variation of zones you like to get to level 50. In each you'll prob have to put some zone teleportation dude to connect everything. What are there 300 zones? That's 150 weeks of grinding out zones only ha..few men have the fortitude to go through that much pain.. Good luck! |
No big deal
Making the zones is kind of fun anyway, so no big deal there...
My issue is all the content. It takes time to create a basic weapon let alone all the skills/abilities tied to it, and the quests etc.... I am at the point where all I need is content for to play the zones I do have already. |
So I don't know unity at all
But I bet the community wouldn't care if you could import armor and weapons and item models..if there are already open source options available.. then use the stats from eqemu etc... the character might look different but that also be a cool thing too to make it feel different. Then over time implement customs? Again I'm just thinking outside the box. |
I attempted that, but I do not know SQL enough to enough begin to export/import databases. Would be cool to have all the stats ready to go though
