CPU load
I was wondering the CPU load per player connected on a linux box with no graphical interface loaded.

Dependes on what cpu you're running on and many other factors both software wise and hardware, so it's pretty hard to tell :?

When I ran EQEmu on my linux server which was a P166 w/128mb of RAM I didn't have any load problems just bandwidth problems. Damn cable modem upload was capped. Though I ran at the most 3 zones because there was no need for more than that.

On Foreverhacking which runs 11 zones per computer (1 linux machine 700mhz dell laptop, 2 windows 2000 servers), world on a windows machine, and a dedicated mysql server on a smp sparc server, we do .00 to .2 userload on the linux server.
Now, on bootup, it is higher, but not as high as on the mysql server (Had a userload of 12 last time we recycled all zones at once). |
Funny enough I just moved mysql over to an old ultra1 I had proping a door open in the basement till now. Seems to have helped to not have the db running on a box runing acting as a zone server. Hmm now if I could only figure out something to run on the ss20 that now replaced the ultra in door holding.Maybe a login server if that ever gets released. Anyone tried to compile the zone servers under Solaris ?
